Let yourself be carried away amid the streets of Forlì to relive the city in the time of Dante. This tour follows the footsteps of the great poet, starting from Porta Schiavonia, an entrance area to the city that still connects it to Florence, and following the Acquacheta Valley (the Montone River). From Porta Schiavonia, the itinerary continues towards the city center along Corso Garibaldi, perhaps one of the oldest connections between the outskirts and the city center. Passing by the historic Palazzo Albicini, where the “caxa granda” of the Ordelaffi once stood. From there, passing by the Cathedral of Santa Croce, you’ll arrive at the main square, the theater of the “sanguinoso mucchio” mentioned in Dante’s Inferno, where the bell tower of the Abbey of San Mercuriale stands tall.
