Ravenna is famous for its Byzantine mosaics, a UNESCO World Heritage site. However, it also hides many treasures that deserve to be admired. Alongside the Byzantine mosaics, you’ll find stone carpets, hanging gardens, the Dante area, the historic center with the legacy of the Rasponi and Da Polenta families and their bloody intrigues at the palace. In the outskirts you can appreciate the Mausoleum of Theodoric, surrounded by a green park that can be explored on foot, while the little village of Classe hosts three equally fascinating sites: the Byzantine Basilica, the Classis Museum, and its ancient port.
