Dante and Ravenna Experience
Dante and Ravenna, a 700 years long blend. That is, ever since the Great Poet decided to spend the last years of his exile at the court of Guido Novello da Polenta: here Alighieri became an active part of a literary cenacle attended not only by his sons Pietro and Jacopo, but also by some local writers. Dante Alighieri died in Ravenna on September 14, 1321. The funeral was celebrated in today’s church of San Francesco, which stands right next to his tomb, designed by Camillo Morigia in the last glimpse of the 18th century.
The route winds through the places that Dante knew during his exile in Ravenna, with a parallelism with his literary journey in the three kingdoms of the Afterlife.
